Dad's Meryenda! SM Megamall Branch (Food Review) + Tips on how to control yourself at a buffet!

By 22:26 , , , , , , , ,

Yesterday after school, me and my friends decided to eat a big fat meryenda at Dad's SM Mega. We didn't eat lunch of course! We were preparing our stomach for the buffet. :)
It's only 258 PHP including unlimited drinks and no service charge!
We ate on a saturday so it's 258. On weekdays it's only a whooping amount of 238 PHP. If you want to know the foods available for the meryenda, check out the picture of the signboard above.

(BTW, I will also list some tips on how to control yourself while at a buffet! As you know, I'm on an exercise plan and I need to maintain my diet so as not to completely destroy everything I've worked out for hahaha! So I searched for some tips that somehow worked for me! I didn't mound myself with a shitload of food, I just enjoyed the sights. Okay? Don't judge me just yet.)

Now onto the foodies!

These babies are the first thing I noticed! FRIIIIIEEEES. *cries* They have plain ones, cheese and sour cream. I like the sour cream best.

*Please excuse the hand reaching for the shawarma.* Well, they also have corndogs, which were very cute. I'm sure they're delicious to some people, but I don't enjoy them that much. But I decided to get one though. My friends got the shawarma and they told me it tasted hardcore "bumbay". I didn't want that. :)

Onto the salad bar, oh yes I really enjoyed this one! YAY FOR CRUNCHY LETTUCE! They served crunchy iceberg lettuce which was my favorite. Also they have a whole array of vegetables and little meats laid out in bowls. I really like the mixed ones and the ham. The cut ham was so tasty, the flavor bursts in my mouth. The potatoes were okay too. I liked the vinaigrette dressing also, but I like my mom's homemade more. :)

They also have pansit, spring rolls, diniguan, ginataan and so much more filipino yummies. My friends say there was nothing too extraordinary, but nevertheless it was still yummy. :)

Now onto the best part of the buffet area...

THE DESSERTS!

What a view right? Hahaha! They have a lot of cakes and pastries. Some were extremely yummy, others weren't that much, in my opinion. But still, a sight for sore eyes. The ice cream's a hit, I didn't get the cold treat because there was a line for it. But my friends had ice cream, it was delicious for them of course. Who doesn't love ice cream?

Here's my plate of desserts. I'm just gonna describe everything I got.

Those fudge babies at the top were extremely delicious and fudgeeyyy. But be careful, get only one because it's extremely "nakakaumay". Vanilla caramel = very good, Chocolate cake with cream on top = very good, Chocolate mocha roll = not good, Eclair = not that good, pichi pichi = meh, amber's still the best, sweet bananas = very good! Okay there you go. :)

The drinks station. :)
The blue lemonade looks cool.

I'm just going to show you random full of food plates that I took, some are mine, some are my friends'. :)

All in all, the food was very very good at a VERY GOOD price. :)

I've had my experience at buffets before, I didn't like the feeling I get afterwards. The fullness that makes my stomach hurt every time I moved and the guilt of blowing off my exercise and diet. So as not to make the mistake again, I searched for some tips for people on diets controlling themselves at a buffet. These worked for me. I didn't get the feeling I got, after that buffet at Vikings. :)

1. Fill up your plate with generous amount of salads, fruits and real foods. Real foods meaning the kind that is pure with no process and stuff. The kind that you think is healthy.
2. Keep portions SMALL. Just an actual bite of everything on your plate. ONE BITE.
3. Before going in, challenge yourself to limit the time you actually visit the table. About 2 or 3 times. So you actually think about what to load your plate with.
4. Walk around first. Don't load up at the first sight of food. Walk around and size up your choices.
5. Take a picture of everything you've eaten and JOT THEM DOWN if you have an app on your phone. You bite it, write it.
6. SLOW DOWN! Chew slowly. Savor each bite. So you really enjoy the food, not just gulp down everything.
7. If taking desserts, take a small plate. Just take ONE of what you think looks good and don't load your plate up with everything you see!
8. REMEMBER THOSE POUNDS YOU LOST COULD COME RIGHT BACK IN A SNAP. Load up healthy things.
9. Don't eat dinner afterwards. Drink tea, instead.
10. When you get home, drink tea and dance around your room haha! Biguerlai tea was waiting for me. :)

So I'm clearly happy, because I was able to control myself. Okay so here you go. Another very mixed up post about a food review at an all-you-can-eat buffet and tips of how to control your eating!
