My 30 Day Shred Experience!! :)

By 01:15 , , , ,

So, 30 days ago I started this challenge (for myself), to lose weight. I'm just really motivated to work to get the best shape for my body, that I can achieve. I was encouraged by watching youtube videos and reading reviews about workout videos/programs. I came across Jillian Micheals 30 Day Shred workout videos, basically all of the reviews say it's working for their bodies so I was hooked.

This is the youtube video that kinda encouraged me to take up the challenge, hers was H4H (Hot for Halloween Challenge). But basically you can just do it anytime you want to, not just for halloween though! It can be sexy for summer and stuff. It's up to you to rise up to the occasion. She had set up these rules for everyday for the next 30 days, it was pretty simple.
  1. Do 30 minutes of activity/exercise! (Whether walking, jogging or cardio. Mine turned out to be the 30 day shred workout video for every level. I did it consistently in 30 days.)
  2. 2 fruits & 3 veggies everyday. (Okay so about this, there was really no diet plan, but I did stick to the calorie count Jillian Micheals was suggesting. It also did change my choices in food so that's a good sign. Because as I grow older, the healthier the foods the better. It may not show now, but clean eating is gonna pay off some time. I was happy because I started to do good on my food choices and habits in eating. I didn't have 2 fruits and veggies everyday but I managed to have at least one, or just incorporate fruits and veggies to what I was eating. Just don't be hard on yourself if you ate that burger, tomorrow eat a salad, eat tons of fruits, just keep a balance on everything. Just as long as you maintain, you're good.)
  3. 3000ml or 3L of water daily! (Of course, when trying to lose weight, WATER is essential! This is a good habit, a VERY good habit for me now. I track down my water intake by labeling my bottles and logging them in water your body app, it's free so you can download it on google play.)
That's it! Pretty easy huh? Pretty simple to follow! That's what I thought at first and I'm so glad I did it.

But the 30 day shred workout videos.... Boy! Did it kick my ass! :)))) Hahaha, the LEVEL 1 was easy. I was tired from the first days, but I got used to it. Then came LEVEL 2, it was very hard at first for me because I have weak wrists and I can't hold a plank too long, but you can see improvements in your strength as you go along. I'm even shocked that I got through that.
LEVEL 3 though, was a bitch. Everything hurt after that! But you get used to the burn and you can know that you definitely have a lot of areas to improve on. The key thing here is be okay with modifications. Do the exercise any way you can. Build up to it. Don't be too hard on yourself if you can't do it the first try. Be okay with following Anita the modifier. :) Day 7 or 8 of level 3, I was happy because I was able to go through the entire workout. I was sweating like crazy, but I didn't feel like I was about to die. :)
For motivation, I looked at results and watch videos of people who went through it and had lost weight & inches! Here are some. :)

30 Day Shred: All You Ever Wanted to Know* - this is a link to a blog I read about the 30 day shred before I embarked upon the journey of the workout program. I've never tried a workout program before this because I've always thought that it's hard to keep up with, but it's summer and I've nothing to do, so I convinced myself that I could do it if I put my mind to it! I just focused on my goal and keep up with the rules and looked at it always in the positive perspective. :)

I pinned this to my wall, I always check it on the end of the day to see if I've accomplished them. I also marked the days on my calendar to keep up with the changing of levels. I literally cross off the days and I put some notes to myself on the side. :)

I'm a bit squeamish about sharing my results here because results vary for everyone. I've never been public with fitness-related things before this. But I decided that being healthy is nothing to be ashamed of. It's not like bragging or anything, I just wanted to share my results because it's a milestone for myself that I got through this. I did it for myself and not for anyone. It felt incredible to see myself improve and I feel like I could take on things that are challenging. So that's the main thing, my outlook improved. :)

The first day - After LEVEL 1
After LEVEL 2 - After LEVEL 3!!! :)
I suck at taking before and after photos, okay? I only took belly pics. Hahaha. I did notice a big change on my legs! They're much thinner and my waist lost inches also my booty feels like it's lifted haha probably because of all the squatting involved in the workout. There's also push ups! There are days though where I feel bloated but I just keep on doing the exercise and water water water always.
I think it's worth to try. I got my results somehow, SMALL PROGRESS is still PROGRESS. :)
It's tough, it's not for everyone, it's a bitch on the body but if you're really determined, you can do it. Jillian's really motivating. It's fast and easy, it only takes 25 minutes of your day. If someone like me (lazy ass and everything) could do it, I think anyone can.
I did the 30-day shred video as a baby step for further workout programs that I'm gonna try. It's a bit easy from what I've heard about Insanity & P90X, but I'm building up to it. The next program that I'm gonna do is FOCUS T25 by Shaun T. It's a much longer workout program and also I'm gonna do it simultaneously with school. I really hope it all works out well! :)
